| The
word Reiki translated from Japanese means "universal life
force".
Reiki
is a natural hands on therapy, which is probably thousands
of years old. It is thought that the Tibetan Buddhist monks
used it, and the knowledge was lost for hundreds of years.
A
Japanese Doctor named Mikao Usui rediscovered the technique
in the 1800s and it has now adapted to the form we now
use in the west.
Reiki
is not taught in the strict sense of the word, but transferred
from teacher to pupil, through the attunement ceremony, where
the energy is activated.
There
are 3 stages of Reiki attunements; Reiki 1 gives the ability
to access the energy and to treat yourself, family and friends.
Reiki 2 allows you to send distant healing and practice on
clients and Reiki 3 is called the masters, which enables you
to attune others and by this time you should be master of
your own destiny.
The
Reiki principles become a way of life by this level.
